Hi Everybody!
My name is Brett, and I am one of the founders of SPS.  I thought it would be a good idea to write a mini autobiography, so that people who visit the site could have a better idea about who we are and what we're trying to do.  I'm from Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States, and I've been living in Ireland since September.  I did my undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at University of Miami.  After graduating, I worked at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World, as an AT for the Summer.  I then moved to Hawaii to work as an AT for Hawaii Pacific University, a small college on the island of Oahu.  I worked there for a year, mostly with the baseball team.  After a year in Hawaii, the siren song of academia, and innate fear of the real world drove me to pursue my Master's degree in Exercise and Sport Psychology at Temple University in Philadelphia.  There, I wrote my thesis "Behind the Visor: a Qualitative Exploration of the Psychological Skills of Formula One Race Car Drivers."  I talked with race car drivers who competed in the sport at the height of its danger, and it was a truly inspiring experience.  I was accepted to University of Limerick's PhD program in the PESS department, hoping to continue to do research in motorsport, high-risk sport, and challenge/threat appraisal.  I wanted to start the blog and podcast so that I can talk about sport psychology in an easy and digestible way, and comment on issues in my area, and the field in general in a relaxed, non-academic manner.  I think that sport psychology is innately cool and interesting, and I think this blog and podcast could be a platform to talk about it in a way that's engaging to everybody.  We are still in the very beginning stages of developing this, so thank you very much for reading, and hopefully you'll continue to check in, and watch this blog and podcast grow into something great!
