I'm excited to say that the first podcast was recorded yesterday, and will be uploaded very soon! We talked with Jessie Barr, elite athlete and elite Ph.D. student, about resilience and mental toughness as constructs. I wanted to write a little reflection piece about the experience, which will follow each podcast for now on.
Our first episode had typical wrinkles that we'll have to iron out as we get better: The room was a bit echo-y, I said "um" a lot, and I may have over-estimated my editing abilities, but overall it was a really fantastic experience. I was surprised that we conversed so smoothly, and there was very minimal dead air. Jessie has a very unique background, both as a high level athlete and Ph.D. student in sport psychology, which allows for a really insightful perspective on the field, and how sport psychology translates to real world sport performance practically. When we were developing the first episode, I was concerned that we were going to get too heated discussing our thoughts on mental toughness, but I think we raised some great points. Overall, the process was much easier than I expected, and I can't wait to record more!
We're now working on episode two, and as soon as we book our next guest, we'll announce on the blog, and our new twitter account! @SportPsychSesh
